NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (0-0, 0-0 ASUN) lacrosse team hosts VCU (0-0, 0-0 A10) on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. in their season opener.
In season openers, the Monarchs own a 17-20 mark.
The Monarchs enter their first game of the season after a 9-9 overall record in 2017. In 2016, the Monarchs won the ASUN Tournament and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Head Coach Heather Holt has brought on 12 newcomers, including 10 freshman and two transfers. The team also returns seven starters from the 2017 squad. In preseason accolades, junior Kerri Caruso and senior Cydney Tutchton were named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team.
About VCU
Similar to ODU, the Rams have not competed yet this season. Last season, VCU finished 7-10 and opened their 2017 season to ODU as well. The Rams are in just their third year of the women’s lacrosse program.
Last Meeting
The last time the two met, ODU beat VCU by a 10-7 score. Wednesday’s matchup will be just the third meeting between the Monarchs and the Rams. ODU currently owns the two game series between the two, 2-0.
