NORFOLK, Va. – Holly Hutchinson, a sophomore on the ODU women’s tennis team and reigning C-USA Freshman of the Year, was named the Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by conference officials. The Monarchs have now claimed all three weekly awards for the 2018 spring season.

Hutchinson (Middlesex, England) went a perfect 4-0 last week in the No. 1 spot, helping lead Old Dominion to two 7-0 victories, while improving its overall record to 5-1 for the season. In No. 1 singles against Richmond, she won in straight-sets over Emily Dunbar (7-5, 6-2). In No. 1 singles against Navy, she also won in straight-sets against Amanda Keller (6-3, 6-2). In No. 1 doubles against Richmond, Hutchinson and teammate Yulia Starodubtseva won 6-2. In No. 1 doubles against Navy, Hutchinson and Starodubtseva claimed a 6-4 victory. Hutchinson improved 5-1 in doubles play this spring.

Old Dominion will be back in action this Sunday, Feb. 4, when the Monarchs host Charlotte at 10:00 a.m., before taking on Appalachian State at 2:00 p.m. Both matches on Sunday will take place at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center and admission for all is free.
