PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Old Dominion men’s tennis team defeated Penn (0-1) by a 4-3 score at the Hecht Tennis Center on Sunday. The Tennis Monarchs improved to 3-1 on the season, with their only loss coming on the road at No. 23 nationally ranked Columbia via a 4-3 score.

“Road wins are tough to get,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “Penn has a very dangerous team and they brought it all today. Our doubles point was strong again today and I’m very happy for our new guys Jannik and Francois to win hard fought three set matches on their first road trip. That will help them later in the season. We still have to clean up some things, but that’s what practice is for.”

Old Dominion returns to action on Friday, Jan. 26, when they travel to Winston-Salem to get at chance at the No. 1 ranked team in the country, Wake Forest, at 5:00 p.m., as part of the ITA National Kick-Off. The next day, Saturday, Jan. 27, ODU will square-off against Vanderbilt or Portland.
