NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s tennis team (2-0) defeated Monmouth by a 7-0 score and then Morgan State by a 7-0 score to kick-off the 2018 spring season on Saturday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
“We played two quality opponents today,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “I’m very proud of our guys focusing the entire day and not losing a single match. The sets we lost were due to our opponents stepping up and playing well. All the credit to Monmouth and Morgan State for competing and executing in those moments. It was great getting two matches in to start the season and now we have to recover and prepare for a Top 25 team on the road in Columbia.”
The Tennis Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 20, when ODU visits No. 23 Columbia for a 1:00 p.m. start, before traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. for a Sunday, Jan. 21 showdown at UPenn at 12:00 p.m.
