NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team is set to compete in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic at South Point Arena this week. ODU will take on Oakland on Thursday and Abilene Christian on Friday.
Both games will be streamed live on LiveStream.com and can also be heard locally on radio on ESPN 94.1. Friday's contest will air on tape delay on ESPN 94.1 at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET.
The trip to Las Vegas marks the first time this season that Old Dominion (1-9) will leave the Commonwealth of Virginia.
So far this season, the Monarchs have been led by true freshman guard Victoria Morris, who leads the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game. Odegua Oigbokie, who posted her first career double-double against William & Mary on Sunday, ranks second in scoring with 9.9 points per game.
Defensively, ODU is holding opponents to under 70 points per game and have held their opponent under 60 in two of the last five games.
This will mark the third time in the last six seasons that ODU has traveled to Las Vegas for a holiday tournament. In 2014-15, ODU went 2-0 in the Holiday Hoops Classic, defeating Miami (OH) and UIC. In 2012-13, ODU posted a 2-1 record in the World Vision Classic with wins over UNLV and Alabama A&M.
This week will also mark the first time ODU has ever played both Oakland and Abilene Christian.
