WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Ashley Jackson scored 16 points and Odegua Oigbokie recorded a double-double, but the Old Dominion women's basketball team fell at William & Mary, 75-58, on Sunday evening at Kaplan Arena.

"I was really pleased with our kids' effort," said head coach Nikki McCray-Penson. "I thought our execution was better than it has been the last two games. We hit shots early on, but we put them on the free throw line and that bothered us from an offensive standpoint."

Old Dominion (1-9) got off to a hot start offensively, shooting 53 percent in the first quarter to take a 22-21 lead into the second quarter. The 22 first-quarter points were the most by ODU this season.

However, William & Mary (9-1) responded with a 24-6 run from late in the second quarter into the third quarter to take a lead that it would not relinquish. After the first half featured 12 lead changes, the Tribe led for the entirety of the second half.

Overall, ODU outrebounded William & Mary, 39-35. The Monarchs shot 36 percent from the field and 4-of-22 from beyond the arc, while the Tribe shot 47 percent as team.

Aside from Jackson's team-high 16 points, MaKayla Timmons also finished in double figures with 12 points. Oigbokie's 10-point, 11-rebound performance marked the first double-double for an ODU player this season.

"I thought our team grew up tonight," said McCray. "We played hard and those that really watched the game, you saw improvement with our team."

Up next, ODU travels to Las Vegas for the Holiday Hoops Classic on Dec. 21 and 22.
