NORFOLK, Va. -- Preseason All-Americans Lexie Brown and Rebecca Greenwell combined for 50 points for 16th-ranked Duke and the Old Dominion women's basketball team fell to the Blue Devils, 84-51, on Wednesday evening at the Ted Constant Center.

"This was a tough one," said head coach Nikki McCray-Penson. "I thought fatigue played a factor. We've had a pretty a tough schedule the past six days."

Old Dominion (0-5) set a new single-game record for three-point attempts with 30, but could never find a rhythm from beyond the arc, as the Monarchs connected on just seven of those 30 attempts. The game was ODU's fourth in six days.

On the other side, Duke (3-1), who jumped out to an early lead and led 22-6 at the end of the first quarter, shot 65 percent from three-point land.

"Against a team like Duke, you have to hit shots," said McCray. "We talked about it. We just didn't hit enough open shots."

Victoria Morris led ODU with 15 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Morris has now scored in double figures in all five games this season.

MaKayla Timmons and Odegua Oigbokie also finished in double digits for the Monarchs with 11 points apiece. Timmons also led ODU with five assists.

The Blue Devils outrebounded ODU, 48-36, and held a 17-9 advantage in second-chance points.

"Every game is an opportunity for us to learn and grow," said McCray. "We just have to get better."

The five-game losing skid matches the longest streak to start a season for Old Dominion since the 2009-10 season.

Up next, the Monarchs have a three-day hiatus over the Thanksgiving holiday before hosting Richmond on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m.
