NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s tennis head coach Dominik Mueller announced the addition Oliver Tobisch (Roedermark, Germany), Luca Maldoner (Innsbruck, Austria) and Bradley Mittleman (Leawood, Kansas) on Friday afternoon, which will be added to the Monarchs roster beginning in the 2018-19 season.

“We are very excited about these three guys,” said Mueller. “We are replacing maybe the best senior class ODU tennis ever had, but they are hungry and talented to continue the success and even bring it to new heights.”

Meet the Newest Tennis Monarchs
Oliver Tobisch
Roedermark, Germany
Currently ranked No. 198 in the German Open Men’s Rankings and No. 9 for his age
Chose ODU over Auburn and Iowa

Why Tobisch Chose ODU:
“I chose ODU because of the opportunities to further develop my tennis game. I will have very strong practice partners, a professional coaching staff and a friendly and family oriented atmosphere. I want to study engineering and ODU also offers a great program in this area.”

Mueller on Tobisch:
“Oliver was a highly recruited junior, who is just starting to get better. He has won four tournaments in the past two months, which shows his winning character and trajectory. He will get even better here, because he has a clear goal in mind. I love his academic ambition, which will translate to his athletic focus.”

Luca Maldoner
Innsbruck, Austria
Currently ranked No. 22 in the Austrian Open Men’s Rankings and No. 2 for his age
Current Austrian Junior National Indoor champion
Chose ODU over Middle Tennessee and Tulsa

Why Maldoner chose ODU:
“I chose ODU mainly for its tennis program. I immediately had a good relationship with Coach Dom during the showcase this summer, which was very important. I believe that I can further develop my tennis game under these coaches and teammates. The location was also a big plus. I’m looking forward to helping the team climb in the rankings and believe that I can add to that.”

Mueller on Maldoner:
“When I saw Luca this summer, I immediately realized his upside. He has a big game and being a national champion speaks for itself. What really impressed me with him was his goal setting. When we first interacted, he was ranked No. 37 in Austria and he told me that after the summer he wanted to crack the Top 25. Now we are here and he is ranked No. 22. He set himself a high goal and achieved it with hard work and determination, exactly what we need to bring our program in order to take it to the next level.”

Bradley Mittleman
Leawood, Kansas
3 Star Recruit
Ranked as high as 270 by TennisRecruiting.net
Currently the No. 2 ranked player in Kansas
Also considered Miami and Elon

Why Mittleman Chose ODU:
“When I visited ODU I was amazed by the community and team atmosphere Coach Mueller and the coaching staff creates. I could tell he truly believes in his players and inspires them to get better each day. I know I will continue to develop as a player and person at ODU.”

Mueller on Mittleman:
“Bradley is one of those kids every team in the country wants and needs. He is getting better every year and I’m certain we will see this development continue with us. He is coming from an outstanding family that I had the pleasure to meet his summer. His work ethic will be contagious for our whole program.”
