IRVING, Texas -- Following a third-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate, Old Dominion women's golfer Maggie Simmermacher has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Simmermacher fired a one-over 217 at the 54-hole tournament at Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, last week. She finished just four strokes off the lead and helped guide the Monarchs to a fourth-place finish as a team.
The senior from Argentina finished ahead of four top-100 players and led the field of 90 individuals with 14 total birdies. Overall, the top-five finish was the ninth of her career at ODU.
In addition, the weekly award is Simmermacher's sixth C-USA Golfer of the Week award of her career. She earned two weekly honors as a sophomore and three as a freshman.
