NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University swimming and diving fell in its home opener to to East Carolina on Saturday afternoon at the JC Scrap Chandler Pool. The men were edged 163.5-136.5, while the women lost 179-116.
Ethan Apisa, Filip Svedberg and Nick Wukovits led the men with a pair of wins. Apisa won the 1000 free with a time of 9:36.13 and the 500 free in a time of 4:39.34.
Wukovits won his first two career races with the Monarchs, registering wins in the 100 breaststroke in 57.21, and the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.52, edging second place by .03.
Senior diver Cory Moreno won the 3-meter dive with a score of 319.55, and finished in second place in the 1-meter dive, just 1.7 points behind first place.
Connor Davis won the 100 free, while Svedberg won the 100 and 200 butterfly.
For the women, Ashley Brem won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.58, while Jacklyn VandePoel triumphed in the 200 backstroke in 2:04.75.
