Monarchs Remain Undefeated in C-USA Play with Win over Marshall, 1-0

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (8-3-2, 5-0-0 C-USA) men’s soccer team defeated Marshall (6-7-1, 2-4-0) Saturday night by a score of 1-0 in front of over 480 fans. The lone goal was socred by Sebastien Hauret, notching his second goal of the season. The Monarchs remain undefeated in league play.

In the first half, ODU and Marshall traded possession of the ball almost equally. In the first half, Old Dominion led with six shots on goal and Marshall with four.

Marshall goalkeeper Nate Himes committed a foul resulting in an ODU penalty kick. Sebastien Hauret was rewarded the PK, which he blasted to the left side of the net past Himes. The goal is Hauret’s second penalty kick of the season. The first coming from a penalty kick against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 14. 

Mertcan Akar tallied six saves, while Himes notched eight.

Old Dominion ultimately took the advantage in shots, 19-12.

The Monarchs travel south to face FIU on Oct. 25 in Miami, Fla at 7:00 PM. FIU currently leads the conference standings with 16 points.
