NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 18 Old Dominion (7-2-2, 4-0-0 C-USA) men’s soccer team faces No. 4 UNC (11-2-1, 4-1-1 ACC) on Tuesday at 7PM at the Wakemed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The Monarchs lost just their second contest of the season on Saturday night in Norfolk against Coastal Carolina, 5-2.

In the last two games, the Monarchs scored goals on penalty kicks. Sebastien Hauret and Fox Slotemaker both scored their first goals of the season on Saturday night against Coastal Carolina.  

Mertcan Akar has played all 1,030 minutes in the net for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs are 3-2-2 against non-conference opponents this season.

About UNC
The Tar Heels topped three ranked opponents this season including Providence, Duke, and Virginia. Last time out, the Tar Heels drew a 0-0 game with No. 5 Louisville. Alan Winn leads the Tar Heels in goal scoring this season with eight, while sophomore Cam Lindley leads the Tar Heels in points with 20.

Three different North Carolina goalkeepers have split time. Drew Romig has played 249 minutes, James Pyle 180 minutes, while Alec Smir has spent over 850 minutes in the net for the Tar Heels.

Series History
The Monarchs last saw the Tar Heels in 2014, which the Tar Heels took the match, 1-0. The Tar Heels also own the series advantage, 7-5-2.

The Monarchs return to C-USA play as they host Marshall on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7PM at the ODU Soccer Complex.
