NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's golf team travels to Akron, Ohio, this week for the Firestone Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron at Firestone Country Club.

The tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday. This year's field includes Akron, Mercer, Bradley, Ohio, Cincinnati, ODU, Davidson, Richmond, Dayton, South Carolina-Aiken, Furman, Temple, George Mason, William & Mary, Illinois State and Valparaiso.

Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.

The Firestone Invitational has become a fall staple for head coach Murray Rudisill and the Monarchs. Last year, Michael Bakker registered a top-10 finish at the event, as the team finished 14th overall. Two seasons ago, ODU placed third at the tournament.

"We always look forward to playing at Firestone Country Club in Akron," said Rudisill about this weekend's tournament.

The Firestone Invitational will be the Monarchs' second tournament of the fall. ODU opened the fall with an 11th-place finish at the VCU-hosted Janney Shootout. Chad Hess was the top finisher at the Janney Shootout, tying for 28th.
