NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion travels to UMass for a 3:30 p.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 9 in Amherst. The game will be broadcast on the Eleven Sports Network and NESP Plus, and be broadcast on UMassathletics.com.

> ODU defeated FCS foe Albany, 31-17 last Saturday in Norfolk. ODU led 24-3 but the Great Danes pulled to within 24-17 before Blake LaRussa connected with Jonathan Duhart for a 55-yard touchdown pass to put the game away.

> UMass lost last week at Coastal Carolina, 38-28. The Minutemen are 0-2 on the season, as they fell to Hawaii 38-35 in the opening week of the season.

> Old Dominion Head Coach Bobby Wilder is 68-30 all-time.

> For the first time since October 8, 2011 at Rhode Island, the Monarchs won a game despite having less than 300 yards of total offense. ODU had 285 yards of total offense. It was their fewest yards of total offense since Oct. 3, 2015 at Marshall.

> Senior running back Ray Lawry carried five times for 44 yards before leaving the game with an injury. Lawry scored on a 41-yard run to give him 41 career touchdowns and 39 rushing touchdowns. Both are ODU records.

> Junior running back Jeremy Cox tied his career high with seven receptions in the win over Albany. Jonathan Duhart caught five passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.

> Junior linebacker Marvin Branch, in his first career start, made eight tackles, his first career interception and a pass breakup. Junior defensive tackle Miles Fox notched seven tackles and a career-best 1.5 sacks.

Sack Attack
In 2016, ODU finished second in Conference USA in sacks. After one game, ODU is keeping pace with last year after a school record seven sacks in the win over Albany. Senior Bunmi Rotimi had two, while Miles Fox, Pat Toal, Oshane Ximines, Daniel Appouh and Jordan Young contributed.

On three of ODU’s four touchdown scoring drives in Saturday’s win over Albany, the Monarchs were lightning fast, scoring in under a minute. Two of them were on big plays and the other was on a short field due to a Marvin Branch interception.

Special Teams
The ODU special teams had a solid opening game in the win over Albany. Brad Davis had four touchbacks on six kicks, freshman kicker Nick Rice was perfect on extra points and hit a 26-yard field goal, and Bailey Cate had a 50.8 yard punting average and had two punts downed inside the 10.
