NORFOLK, Va. ??The No. 20 Old Dominion men's soccer team (2-1-1) played to a 1-1 draw against Iona (1-0-1)?on Sunday?night at the ODU Soccer Complex in front of 332 fans as part of the 42nd annual ODU Soccer Classic.
In the 27th?minute, Brandon Perdue volleyed off the right post into the net to give ODU a 1-0 advantage into the half.?
At the half, the shot count was in the Gaels favor with a 6-4 advantage, while the Monarchs held a 2-1 advantage in kicks.
Scoring in the second half began in the 77th?minute, when a Sebastian Gordillo assist to Josh Plimpton over the back post propelled the Gaels to tie up the match.
The Gael goal took the contest into overtime. After the first overtime, Brandon Perdue blasted one off the crossbar, just missing the net.
After two overtime periods, ODU outshot Iona 6-0.
Old Dominion held an 8-5 advantage for corner kicks for the match.
Perdue has three goals on the season.
Next up, ODU men's soccer begins conference play on Friday at FIU at 7 pm.
