SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (5-3-2, 2-1-0) took down UTSA (2-8-0, 1-2-0) by a 2-1 score on Friday night at the Park West Complex in San Antonio.

"I am really pleased with the win tonight,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “We scored two good first half goals and in the second had to deal with a lot of long balls but credit to the team everyone played their part. We will recover now and have a quick turnaround as we head to UTEP for Sunday's game."

ODU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 5th minute off Kira Laurento’s third goal of the season.

Four minutes later in the 9th minute, the Roadrunners tied it when Ellis Patterson found Channing Machen for her third goal of the season.

Five minutes later in the 14th minute, Natalie Johnson cleaned up an Iris Achterhof saved shot to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead, which they would never relinquish.

Despite three goals in a span of nine minutes, the remaining 76 minutes were scoreless.

Old Dominion dominated the shot count in the first half (6-1) and for the match (11-4). The Monarchs took all five of the game’s corners.

ODU will travel to El Paso, Texas for a showdown with UTEP (5-6-0, 1-1-0) on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
