NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion (5-1-2, 2-0-0 C-USA) men’s soccer team meets conference foe and No. 13 ranked Kentucky (6-1-2, 3-0-0 C-USA) on Saturday night at 7PM at the ODU Soccer Complex. The Monarchs look to extend their three-game winning streak to four on Saturday night. The match will be streamed on beIN Sports Connect (Online Only).

Most recently, ODU comes off a 3-2 win over conference opponent UAB on Saturday, Sept. 23. Three different Monarchs contributed to the scoring effort on Saturday night, which included Max Wilschrey, Brandon Perdue, and CJ Taylor.

With 17 team goals on the season and an average of 2.13 goals per game, Old Dominion ranks 19th in the country for scoring offense. 

This season, the Monarchs have not played a ranked opponent yet. ODU is not only looking for their first win against a ranked opponent in 2017, but their first win against Kentucky in league history. The last time the Monarchs topped a ranked opponent was Sept. 11, 2016 against #18 Radford, 1-0.

The Monarchs (5-1-2, 2-0-0 C-USA) and Wildcats (6-1-2, 3-0-0 C-USA) are the only two teams left in the league that are undefeated.

Sophomore Success
Sophomore goalkeeper, Mertcan Akar has 24 saves and three shutouts on the 2017 season

Sophomore CJ Taylor tallied his first goal of the season and sealed the Monarch win during the 3-2-conference victory over UAB. Taylor also has one assist on the season. He has played in every game for the Monarchs.

About Kentucky
Kentucky comes into the match with 13 goals on the season. Senior Stefan Stojkovic leads the Wildcats with three goals. Their only loss comes from the University of Cincinnati (5-3-1, 0-1-0 AAC) where they got shutout, 1-0. The Wildcats came to a 2-2 draw with #8 Louisville, the only ranked team they have met this season. Kentucky goalkeeper, Enrique Facusse has five shutouts and 28 saves through nine games.

The Wildcats own a 3-0-2 mark against the Monarchs.
