NORFOLK, Va. -- The Monarchs (3-1-2, 1-0-0 C-USA) will host the VCU Rams (1-2-0, 0-0-0 A-10) on Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex at 7:00 p.m. The Silver and Blue are coming off a conference win on Friday night at FAU by a score of 3-0. The Monarchs came out offensively against FAU with two goals by senior Tyler Edwards and another notched by freshman Brandon Perdue.
Most recently, the Monarchs are coming off a two home game draw. On Sept. 3, the Monarchs and Iona tied at 1-1 after two overtime periods. On Sept. 12, Campbell visited for a draw, 1-1.
The Monarchs have outshot their opponents 88-65 so far this season.
Brandon Perdue has tallied four goals on the season, leading the Monarchs. Behind him, Tyler Edwards and Max Wilschrey both have three goals after six games.
Defensively, goalkeeper Mertcan Akar posted his second shutout of the season at FAU. Akar has played 580 minutes in the net for the Monarchs.

The Rams enter Tuesday’s match (1-2-0) with their sole win coming from St. Francis (Pa.) (4-3-0) and their two losses coming from Oakland (2-5-0) and Appalachian State (3-3-1). For the Rams, senior midfielder Rafael Santos and redshirt senior Luc Fatton lead their team in scoring, having two goals within their three games. Santos also leads the Rams with eight shots, while redshirt senior Fran Amorosino trails close behind with seven shots.
The two teams have had a long-standing rivalry with the Monarchs leading the series 24-9-5.
