BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Monarchs (3-1-2, 1-0-0 C-USA) opened up their conference play with a win against FAU, 3-0 on Friday night in Boca Raton, Florida.

In the 39th minute, scoring begun for the Monarchs with a Tyler Edwards goal giving the Monarchs the advantage over the Owls (1-3-0, 1-1-0 C-USA) going into the second half. Max Wilschrey assisted the goal.

“We played some really good soccer and finished well in front of goal,” said Coach Dawson.

In the 57th minute, Tyler Edwards notched his second goal of the game, putting the Monarchs up 2-0 over FAU.

Freshman Brandon Perdue received a cross from Niko Klosterhalfen in the 65th minute, giving the Monarchs a three-goal advantage. Perdue now leads the team in goals with four. Behind Perdue, Max Wilschrey and Tyler Edwards both have three goals on the season.

ODU had a 14-6 shot advantage over the Owls.

Coach Dawson explained, “To start our C-USA run with three points is what we needed.”

The Monarchs return home for a non-conference match against VCU on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
