NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team will play host to Longwood for the Monarchs only exhibition match on Friday, Aug. 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex. Admission for all is FREE.
The Monarchs were picked to finish sixth in the Preseason Conference USA Poll announced earlier this week, while senior captain Jackie Stroud was one of 11 players named to the C-USA All-Preseason Team.
ODU head coach Angie Hind returns 14 letterwinners from last year, including the top two point scorers in Iris Achterhof and Madison Hogan. In fact, 10 of ODU’s top 13 point scorers from a season ago return to the pitch in 2017, as well as senior goalkeeper, Krista Moisio, who played all 1,726 minutes in net in 2016. Hind has taken the Monarchs to back-to-back Conference USA Tournaments, as the top eight of fourteen teams qualify each year. This year’s Old Dominion roster is composed of 26 student-athletes, featuring 11 upperclassmen and 15 underclassmen.
Stroud was named to All-Conference USA Second Team last season and was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year; she also garnered VaSID All-State honors. The two-time team captain started all 19 matches last year.
REGULAR SEASON OPENING WEEKEND – MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Old Dominion will open up the regular season at home on Friday, August 18, against George Mason at 7:00 p.m. All youth (12 and under) that wear their jerseys to Friday’s game will receive FREE ADMISSION AND a VOUCHER. The voucher is good for free entry to Sunday’s match (Aug. 20 vs. Albany at 6:00 p.m.) AND the first 30 vouchers presented on Sunday will also receive a free ODU prize pack.

With a $25 purchase of the 2017 Soccer Voucher book, fans receive 20 ticket vouchers that can be used in any combination to gain entry to any women's (or men’s) regular season game at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The vouchers can be redeemed in any quantity and represent a 75% savings over purchasing general admission tickets at the gate. In addition to entry to the games, the first 200 fans that purchase their ticket voucher books will receive an ODU soccer scarf.
