IRVING, Texas – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll, while senior captain Jackie Stroud was one of 11 players to be named to the All-Conference Preseason Team.

ODU head coach Angie Hind returns 14 letterwinners from last year, including the top two point scorers in Iris Achterhof and Madison Hogan. In fact, 10 of ODU’s top 13 point scorers from a season ago return to the pitch in 2017, as well as senior goalkeeper, Krista Moisio, who played all 1,726 minutes in net in 2016. Hind has taken the Monarchs to back-to-back Conference USA Tournaments, as the top eight of fourteen teams qualify each year.

Stroud was named to All-Conference USA Second Team last season and was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year; she also garnered VaSID All-State honors. The two-time team captain started all 19 matches last year.

The Monarchs open up with their one and only exhibition match on Friday, August 11, against Longwood at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the exhibition is free to the public. Old Dominion will open up the regular season at home on Friday, August 18, against George Mason at 7:00 p.m.
