NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s tennis head coach, Dominik Mueller, announced the Tennis Monarchs 2017-18 fall and spring schedules on Thursday afternoon.
“This might be one of the most challenging schedules ODU tennis has seen,” said Mueller. “We have eight conference champions and four Top 25 teams from last year on the schedule. We want to play the best competition possible and be tested on the highest level, so we are beyond excited for the season.”
Conference Champions from Last Year on ODU’s Upcoming Schedule
-Columbia and Harvard shared the Ivy League Title
-Wake Forest won the ACC regular season
-Utah State won the Mountain West Championship
-South Florida won the American Athletic Championship
-Drake won the Missouri Valley Championship
-VCU won the A-10 Championship
-Monmouth won the MAAC Championship

Power Five Conference Schools Coming to Norfolk in the Spring of 2018

“We are thrilled to have three Power Five conference teams coming to Norfolk this year,” Mueller continued. “Our fans will see amazing tennis in the spring, as well as in the fall with our first ever Monarch Invitational. Highlighted with a rivalry match against William & Mary for senior day, we couldn’t ask for a better way to send out this amazing senior class.”
Old Dominion finished last season nationally ranked No. 55, according to the year-end Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, after compiling a 19-6 overall record. At one point last season, the Tennis Monarchs jumped to No. 25 in the national rankings. ODU earned a No. 2 seed in the Conference USA Tournament and for the second consecutive year, the Monarchs advanced to the conference title match.
