ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Old Dominion rower Taylor Phy and teammates, Tim Schwegman, Max Mittelman and John Tepper, won the 2017 Red Bull Surf & Rescue Lifeguard Tournament held at Mississippi Beach in Atlantic City, N.J.
The win is the second consecutive victory for the four person crew of the Longport Beach Patrol, that went head-to-head with 50 other teams.
Competition consisted of four rounds with the final round a combination of a 250-meter swim, 450-meter paddleboard and a 700-meter doubles crew race.
The Longport team trailed after the first two legs of the final race, but with Tim and Taylor in the boat, the pair caught the first place team, passing them to gain and hold the lead until the end.
