Cate Named to Ray Guy Award Watch List

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Old Dominion University sophomore punter Bailey Cate has been named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List. The award is given to the best punter in the FBS.

As a true freshman in 2017, Cate punted 57 times for a 37.8-yard average. A native of Orange Park, Florida, Cate downed 25 punts inside the 20, while 23 of his punts her fair caught. His longest boot of the season was a 70-yarder at NC State that was downed inside the 10.

Cate also served as the place-kicker early in the season, converting a pair of extra points, and making a 21-yard field goal at NC State.

Cate becomes the fourth Monarch to be named to a Watch List so far this off-season. He joins Ray Lawry (Maxwell Award), Nick Clarke (Rimington Trophy) and Melvin Vaughn (Mackey Award).
