NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion athletics welcomes Carolyn Cooper to the Monarch family as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing.
Cooper is a 2006 graduate of the University of Notre Dame where she double majored, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.
While at Notre Dame, Cooper was a four-year volleyball player for the Fighting Irish. She played a significant role in leading the team to four consecutive BIG EAST Conference titles and NCAA Tournament berths, culminating in a trip to the Sweet 16 during the 2005 season.
Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, she went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in sport management from the University of Tennessee, graduating in 2008.
Cooper took a position at Providence College as an event coordinator for the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. While at Providence, she was responsible for coordinating and planning a 1st & 2nd round site of the 2010 Division I NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament hosted by Providence College and the BIG EAST Conference.
In August of 2010 she became the account executive at Nelligan Sports Marketing in Princeton, N.J. While at NSM, she helped create new business development plans for the Princeton University Corporate Partnership.
Cooper continued her work moving over to the Princeton Varsity Club where she assisted with fundraising and development strategies to drive continued growth in fundraising and membership.
In August of 2015, Cooper was named the Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Community Relations at Princeton. As the Assistant AD of Marketing, she oversaw the proper use of the departments' brand and ensured the correct usage of Princeton Athletic logos. Cooper helped increased student attendance at men's basketball by 92% and grew overall ticket sales for women's basketball by 26.1% during the 2015-16 season. Cooper also served as the primary Athletics contact for the Princeton University Band, Princeton Cheerleading team and Princeton Mascot.
Cooper's primary responsibilities at ODU will include directing the marketing, promotions, social media and game day atmosphere for the athletics department. She will also assist with ticket sales and promotions, coordination of the spirit squads and community outreach.
