MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Old Dominion University Sailing sits in eighth place after the first day of competition at the Gill Coed National western semifinals.
The Monarchs are in eighth place, with the top nine from the two semifinals advancing to the national finals beginning on Thursday.
The Division A boat of Jeremy Herrin and Carter Little finished in 10th place, recording one top five finish in six races.
The Division B team of Jack Elkin and Gabe Smith took sixth place, notching three top five places in four races, including a third place run and two fifth place finishes.
There are 26 races to be completed tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m.
