NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Football held its first scrimmage to wrap up the first week of spring practice on Saturday afternoon at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.

On the first play of the scrimmage, Ray Lawry caught a swing pass from Blake LaRussa and scampered 70-yards down the left sideline for a touchdown. The play was similar to the first play of the 2016 season that saw Lawry catch a 59-yard touchdown pass from David Washington.

Following that the defense stiffened with a pair of three and outs, highlighted by a tackle for loss on a screen pass by Brandon Tyson and a sack by Marcus Haynes.

Later in the scrimmage, Drayton Arnold connected with Jake Herslow and Isaiah Harper for a pair of 20-yard gains, while later hitting Marques Little with a 20-yard touchdown pass.

For the defense, Prince Ajegwu made a nice play on a pass breakup, as did Joe Joe Headen, while Justin Noye registered a sack.

ODU will continue spring practice next week. The Monarchs host the annual spring game next Saturday, April 15 at 3 p.m. The game is free and open to the public. The game will be preceded by the Big Blue 5K at 10:30 a.m. and the 49th Annual Toyota Charity Bowl at 1 p.m.
