Football Spring Practice Report - Day Four

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Football practiced for the fourth time this spring on Friday morning at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex practice fields.

The Monarchs practiced for the first time this spring in full pads.

ODU worked on a variety of drills, including 7 on 7, position drills, one on one's and finishing the day with team drills.

The highlight of the practice was a 92-yard touchdown pass from Drayton Arnold to Kevin Todd.

The Game
ODU travels to Blacksburg for the fourth game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 23.

About the Hokies
Justin Fuente returns for his second season as head coach of the Hokies after replacing long-time head coach Frank Beamer. Fuente led the Hokies to a ten-win season last year and a 35-24 win over Arkansas in the Belk Bowl. Fuente was voted ACC Coach of the year in 2016.

The Hokies went 10-4 in 2016.

VT returns running back Travon McMillian who carried the ball 145 times for 671 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Receiver Cam Phillips had 76 receptions for 983 yards and five touchdowns.

Andrew Motuapuaka is the team’s leading returning tackler, as he finished with 114 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Tremaine Edmunds finished with 106 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks last season.

Series History
This will be the first meeting between the Monarchs and Hokies. The two teams are scheduled to play in Norfolk in 2018.
