GREENVILLE, N.C. -- David Langley wrapped up day one of the East Carolina Intercollegiate in 11th place, as the Monarchs concluded the first two rounds of the tournament in fifth place.
Through two rounds of play, hosting East Carolina and Coastal Carolina are knotted in a first place tie (+17), while Maryland is in third place just four strokes behind (+21). West Virginia is in fourth place (+23) and the Monarchs round out the top five (+26) with one round remaining tomorrow.
Individually, ODU's David Langley (+5) leads the Monarchs in an 11th-place tie after firing a one-under 71 in round one followed by a 78 in the second round. One stroke behind Langley, Calvin Greschner (+6) shot a two-over 74 in the opening round and a 76 in round two. Antonio Cruz-Conde enters tomorrow's final round in 25th, while Nick Rencis is in 43rd and Chad Hess is in 49th.
As a team, the Monarchs are in third place out of the 11 participating schools in par three and par four scoring, while the Monarchs have also recorded the third-highest birdie total with 24.
Through two rounds, Cruz-Conde is one of just eight golfers out of 66 in the field who has sunk an eagle.
