KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- The Old Dominion sailing team capped off a busy weekend of competition with a third-place finish at the Admirals Cup in Kings Point, N.Y. and a fourth-place finish at the Arrigan Memorial Regatta in Alexandria, Virginia. The Lady Monarchs also secured a 12th-place result at the MAISA Women's Championship in Annapolis.
At the Admirals Cup, ODU took third out of 18 squads, placing behind only Tufts University and Yale. Jeremy Herrin and Carter Little placed sixth in Division A, while Jack Elkin and Gabe Smith registered a runner-up finish in Division B. In Division C, Alec Chicoine placed sixth.
At the Arrigan Memorial Regatta, hosted by Georgetown, Old Dominion placed fourth out of nine participating schools. George White and Gavin Burkhart placed third in Division A, while Brendon Wilkins and Dane Pederson took fourth in Division B. The Monarchs placed ahead of Georgetown, William & Mary and Virginia Tech, among others.
The Monarchs also recorded a 12th-place finish out of 17 teams at the MAISA Women's Championship in Annapolis. Olivia Windemuller and Tori Ewing sailed to an 11th-place finish in Division A. Meanwhile, Elle Wells, Abby Lockler and Molly Sternberg raced to a 14th-place finish in Division B.
Next weekend, ODU sailing will tackle the America Trophy from April 29-30 in Ithaca, New York before taking a three-week hiatus until the Sperry Women's National Championship gets underway from May 23-26 in Charleston, South Carolina.
