TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Old Dominion men's golfer Nick Rencis placed fifth in stroke play at the 2017 C-USA Championships at the Texarkana Country Club Monday. ODU placed 12th as a team.
Rencis (+2) fired a 2-over 74 in round two and a 72 in the final round of stroke play Monday to finish in sole possession of fifth place. The sophomore Monarch finished two strokes ahead of No. 97 nationally-ranked Frederik Dreier of UTEP.
With his top-five finish, Rencis was named to the 2017 C-USA All-Tournament Team.
David Langley (+20) finished in a tie for 49th place, while Michael Bakker (+21) tied for 51st. Antonio Cruz-Conde (+22) took 53rd and Calvin Greschner (+25) tied for 59th.
As a team, the Monarchs (+56) finished in 12th place ahead of FAU (+75).
Bakker was one of just 10 golfers in the field who sunk an eagle over the course of the three rounds of stroke play.
Only the top four teams advanced to Tuesday's rounds of match play.
