NORFOLK, Va. - ODU women’s soccer head coach Angie Hind announced the addition of Carla Morich to the Lady Monarchs roster for the 2017 season on Wednesday afternoon. Morich is a midfielder who reigns from Halstenbek, Germany.
“I am extremely excited to welcome Carla to our program,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “She will join what is the largest recruiting class we have had to date. Carla has an excellent background having played at the youth national level for Germany as well as currently at the senior level in Germany. Her quality on the ball will be a great asset to us in midfield and she has the ability to play both centrally and in a wide area across the midfield. I was impressed by her commitment to her academics as well as her ambition to make an impact on our program and continue to develop individually as a soccer player. I speak for us all when I welcome Carla to the ODU women’s soccer family.”
Morich played her club ball for Bramfelder SV (Bundesliga, Germany). She played on the U 15-17 German National Team and was part of the team that won the U16 Nordic Cup in 2014 in Sweden. Morich was named the runner-up as “Hamburg´s Best Youth Player". She also competed in the U17 German National Championships.
“I decided on ODU because of the very friendly and family atmosphere,” stated Morich. “I felt welcome and I could comfortably be a part of it. Playing at ODU is a great opportunity to combine soccer and school and to develop personally as well as a player.”
The Halstenbek-native will join eight other Lady Soccer Monarch newcomers on the ODU roster for next season: Kasey Perry (GK – Centerville, Ohio), Demi Maris (Def. – Antwerp, Belgium), Josie Sauro (Def. – South St. Paul, Minn.), Emily Roberts (Def. – Severn, Md.), Emma Gervase (MF – Williamsville, N.Y.), Morgan Hall (F – Richmond, Va.), Ryann Harris (Def. – Dublin, Ohio) and Blair Vilov (F – Salisbury, Md.).
