THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Old Dominion University Sailing continued their strong spring with a second place finish at the Prosser Trophy over the weekend. The Monarchs advanced to the finals before falling to Navy.

The skippers for ODU were Jeremy Herrin, James Jacob and Jack Elkin, while the crew were, Carter Little, Stephen Guglielmo, Gabe Smith and Dane Pedersen.

ODU cruised through the first round of races with a 7-0 mark, defeating Georgetown, George Washington, Hobart and William Smith, Navy, Hampton, St. Mary’s and Fordham.

The second round ODU finished 3-4, but still managed to qualify for the finals. ODU defeated Georgetown and George Washington in the first two races, but fell back-to-back to Hobart and William and Smith and Navy, before rebounding to beat Hampton. The Monarchs lost the final two races to St. Mary’s and Fordham, before falling in the finals to Navy.

ODU will look to keep the momentum going as they compete in the Navy Co-ed and Thompson Trophy next weekend.
