IRVING, Texas -- For the second time this season, Old Dominion second baseman Jared Young has been named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Young, who was also named to Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week list, hit .667 (16-for-24) in five games during the week with five home runs, three doubles and 11 RBIs. The Canada native had an OPS of 2.097 and posted three four-hit games, including a two-home run performance at VMI. The junior also did not strike out in 25 plate appearances.

The highlight of Young's scorching week was a game-winning two-run home run in the top of the 12th in the series-clinching win at Middle Tennessee on Saturday. With his five homers during the week, Young now leads the Monarchs with six home runs.

The 16-hit week also improved Young's season batting average by 79 points from .271 to .350, which ranks second on the team. Young is now hitting .458 in conference play, which leads the conference.
