JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Old Dominion women's golfer Sana Tufail sits in sole possession of first place out of 87 golfers through two rounds at the UNF Collegiate, while the Monarchs are tied for first as a team with Memphis.
Tufail, a sophomore from Abu Dhabi, UAE, fired a 70 in round one and two Monday, which landed her in sole possession of first place four strokes under par. Tufail is two strokes ahead of second place Annelie Sjoholm from Campbell (-2) heading into the third and final round on Tuesday.
Maggie Simmermacher (+6) shot a 76 in round one and followed up with a 74 in round two, which was good for a 16th place result through two rounds. Katerina Vlasinova is in 28th place for the Monarchs just two strokes behind Simmermacher (+8).
As a team, Old Dominion is 20 strokes over par and is currently in a tie for first place with Memphis. Third place Campbell is two strokes behind (+22) while Eastern Kentucky is in fourth (+23).
The Monarchs registered the second-lowest par four average (4.31) of all 16 teams on the first day of the tournament, while Sana Tufail leads all golfers in individual par four average (3.90).
The third and final round of the UNF Collegiate gets underway tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
