Ahmad Caver Named to All-Conference USA Third Team

IRVING, Texas – Ahmad Caver (Atlanta, Ga.) of the Old Dominion basketball team was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team on Monday afternoon. Caver is one of just three underclassmen to be named to an All-Conference squad.

Caver leads ODU in scoring (395), assists (144) and steals (39). In C-USA play, he ranks third in the conference for assists (5.2), assist/turnover ratio (2.3) and minutes played (36.2). The sophomore guard also ranks fifth in three-point field goals made per game (2.6), seventh in steals (1.5), ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.404) and seventieth in scoring (14.4 ppg).

His assist to turnover ratio ranks 62nd nationally, while his 35:18 minutes per game for the year ranks 63rd in the country. Caver’s 4.8 assists per game for the season ranks 65th in the NCAA and his 144 total assists is currently 68th best in all of Division I. He has also helped lead ODU to a No. 1 ranking for scoring defense in Conference USA, as the Monarchs allow just 61.1 points per contest.

Caver also helped Old Dominion earn a No. 3 seed for the 2017 Conference USA Tournament this week in Birmingham, Ala. ODU will face the winner of No. 6 Marshall vs. No. 11 Florida Atlantic on Thursday, March 9 at 9:00 p.m. EST on the American Sports Network (ASN) in the Quarterfinals.
