IRVING, Texas -- After batting a team-high .526 for the week, junior second baseman Jared Young has been named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Young, in his first season at Old Dominion after transferring from Connors State Community College in Oklahoma, went 10-for-19 for the week, helping the Monarchs to a 4-1 record. Young recorded a hit in all five games, including a four-hit game against UTSA and a three-hit performance against Princeton.

The Prince George, Canada, native knocked in six runs and belted three doubles and led the team in total bases for the week with 13. Young, who struck out only once in five games, also scored seven runs.
