LAKEPOINT, Ga. – Old Dominion women’s lacrosse player Katie Miller earned her first career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week laurels as announced by the ASUN conference office Tuesday afternoon.
The award comes following her five-goal, one-assist game in the 13-10 come-from-behind win against William & Mary. The five goals and six points were career-highs for Miller. She recorded a single hat trick in the 2016 season against Howard (4/23/16).
Miller more than doubled her season total in goals with five in the 13-10 win. She now has nine on the season and is tied for third on the team in goals.
The sophomore from Irondequoit, N.Y., also added an assist in the game on a Connor Carson goal early in the second half. She has four assists on the season and 13 total points, six from the game against W&M.
Miller scored the first goal of the game, her fifth of the season, for the Lady Monarchs in the third minute off an assist from Brooke Stein.
It was in the second half when Miller took off once again opening the scoring for ODU with a free position goal in the 33rd minute of play. She followed with an unassisted goal nine minutes later, her third of the game, to pull the team within two, 9-7.
Following the 3-1 run by the Lady Monarchs, Miller tied the game 10 all with her fourth goal off an assist by Cydney Tutchton with 10:14 remaining in regulation.
Old Dominion followed with three more unanswered goals in the final ten minutes including Miller’s fifth goal of the game with 3:52 left to play.
