NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion hosts VMI, its third in-state opponent so far this season, for a midweek series on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Bud Metheny Complex. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Overall, Old Dominion (11-4) is 2-1 against Virginia schools. ODU hosted James Madison for a midweek series last week, splitting with the Dukes, 1-1. The Monarchs also played at VCU in their only road game of the season so far, defeating the Rams, 5-4, in extra innings.

The Monarchs, who are receiving votes in the NCWBA Top 30, have yet to lose a series so far this season and are coming off of a 2-of-3 series win over West Virginia last weekend.

VMI (7-7), the alma mater of head coach Chris Finwood, enters the weekend having won four of its last six, after winning weekend series against Quinnipiac and George Washington at home. Outfielders Will Malbon and Tyler Tharp, who are both hitting over .400 with a combined seven home runs and 28 RBIs, lead a potent Keydet lineup that averages nearly seven runs per game.

The Monarchs are 44-11 all-time against VMI. Last year, ODU went 2-1 against the Keydets, sweeping a two-game midweek series in Norfolk, before suffering late-season 8-6 loss at Gray-Minor Stadium.

Joe Strzelecki is projected to get the start on Tuesday against VMI's Zak Kent. This will be Strzelecki's third midweek start of the season. Neither team has announced projected starters for Wednesday.
