ODU Travels to 1st Place MT Thurs. (beIN) & 3rd Place UAB Sat. (ASN)

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Old Dominion men’s basketball team (14-9, 7-4 C-USA) travels to Middle Tennessee [RV] (20-4, 10-1 C-USA) on Thursday, Feb. 9 for a game that will air on beIN Sports, before traveling to UAB (14-10, 7-4 C-USA) on Saturday, Feb. 11, which will air on the American Sports Network (ASN). Both games will begin at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Last season, Middle Tennessee won the C-USA Championship and then went on to upset No. 2 seeded Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament, 90-81.

Two years ago, UAB won the Conference USA title and then went on to upset No. 3 seeded Iowa State, 60-59.

The Monarchs enter the week in a tie with UAB for third in the Conference USA standings. Middle Tennessee sits alone atop of the C-USA with a 10-1 record. The top four teams after the regular season will receive a first round bye in the 2017 C-USA Tournament.

Radio for Thursday and Saturday
Old Dominion Senior Associate Athletic Director Ted Alexander will take care of the play-by-play duties, while ODU Hall of Famer and former NBA champion Dave Twardzik will handle color commentary. Ted and Dave’s live pregame show will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST on Thursday and Saturday.

-ODU is 5-3 overall on the road this season and 3-2 on the road in C-USA play.
-The Monarchs are 4-3 on Thursday’s, 4-4 on Saturday’s and 1-1 in February so far this season.
-Middle Tennessee received a vote in the USA TODAY Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
-MT is 5-0 at home in Conference USA play.
-JaCorey Williams (17.5 ppg/7.6 rpg) leads the Blue Raiders in scoring and in rebounding, while Giddy Potts (15.3 ppg/5.5 rpg) and Reggie Upshaw (13.9 ppg/6.5 rpg) also average double-figures.
-UAB is 4-0 at home in conference play so far this season.
-William Lee (12.5 ppg/6.7 rpg) leads UAB in scoring and rebounding, while Chris Cokley (12.0 ppg/5.8 rpg) and Dirk Williams (10.3/3.2 rpg) also average in double figures.

ALL-TIME SERIES: ODU vs. Middle Tennessee
-Thursday will mark the eighth all-time meeting between these two schools.
-MT leads the all-time series, 7-0.
-MT won both of the meetings last season; first, 64-61 in Norfolk, followed by a 55-53 victory in the Conference USA Tournament Championship.
-These two teams first met in the 1986-87 season, with the visiting Blue Raiders winning, 75-66.

ALL-TIME SERIES: ODU vs. UAB
-Saturday will mark the thirtieth all-time meeting between these two schools.
-UAB leads the all-time series, 20-9.
-UAB won the last meeting between the two last season in OT, 72-71, snapping ODU’s 32 game home winning streak.
-These two teams first met in the 1982-83, resulting in a Monarchs loss on the road, 71-60.
