NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team hosts UAB on Saturday at 4 p.m. on ESPN3 for the 15th Annual Hoops for the Cure game presented by Bon Secours in Motion Physical Therapy Sports Performance.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 and WatchESPN and is available on all computers, tablets and mobile devices. The UAB game will also be aired on ESPN 94.1 with commentary from Doug Ripley and Susan Montgomery.
The game, which began in 2003, has grown into a must-see event at the Ted Constant Center that features a Health Fair, the Survivor Walk and several promotions for fans in attendance. Attendees are encouraged to be in their seats by 3:40pm to cheer on the survivors as they participate in the Survivor Walk. A moment of silence will be held for those that have been lost to cancer prior to the Walk. Also, stick around at halftime to enjoy a stable of Hoops for a Cure, a performance by Jazzercise.
The first 1,000 fans in the door will receive a pink Hoops for the Cure t-shirt and the first 2,000 fans will also receive a pink pom-pom. Doors open at 3 p.m.
As part of the Health Fair, Virginia Blood Services will have their Bloodmobile on the plaza of the Constant Center prior to the game, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and fans who wish to donate blood can do so during this time or get more information on future opportunities to give blood. Several vendors will also be located inside the lobby of the Constant Center with information and activities pertaining to women’s health.
The Feb. 11 contest will also serve as the celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) event will feature an Old Dominion sports clinic at the Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Building from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For just $17, fans can purchase a package that includes a game ticket, a food and beverage voucher and access to the pre-game clinic.
