ORLANDO, Fla. -- Charlotte De Corte wrapped up the first day of the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in a tie for 13th place, while the Monarchs are tied with No. 50 Clemson for seventh place out of 17 teams.
Hosting No. 20 UCF (-8) jumped out to first place after the first day of the three-day tournament, while No. 34 Wisconsin and No. 40 Kentucky are tied for second place, just three strokes behind (-5). Old Dominion (-2) currently sits in a seventh-place tie with No. 50 Clemson, as the Monarchs are ahead of five top-50 nationally-ranked teams including: No. 10 Kent State, No. 14 Miami, No. 17 Texas, No. 35 SMU and No. 42 East Carolina.
Individually, De Corte leads ODU, as the sophomore from Londerzeel, Belgium shot a 70 (-2) in round one and is tied for 13th place with No. 31 Lindsey McCurdy of SMU, No. 83 Filippa Moork of Miami and No. 86 Michaela Owen from Auburn.
Sana Tufail fired a 71 (-1) in round one and currently sits in a tie for 21st place, while Katerina Vlasinova is in 28th place (E) and Maggie Simmermacher is in 39th (+1).
Day two of the UCF Challenge resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
