ATLANTA, Ga. - Senior Colleen VandePoel set the ODU record in the 100 backstroke with a second place finish, while sophomore Ashley Brem earned a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the Conference USA Championship Friday night.
Brem grabbed the Lady Monarchs' best finish of the championship to date with a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time 1:01.37.
VandePoel surpassed Brem one event later with an ODU record-setting swim in the 100 backstroke, a 53.92 to take second place behind FIU's Naomi Rucle.
Emilie Petit finished seventh in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.48.
ODU finished the night with a fifth place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Colleen VandePoel, Brem, Petit and Sofie Sjoberg took a time of 3:43.75.
The Lady Monarchs are currently in fifth place in the championship with 209 points, 71 behind fourth place North Texas.
