NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s soccer head coach Angie Hind announced the spring schedule for her Lady Monarchs on Thursday. The spring slate includes five competitions including four matches at the ODU Soccer Complex.
“We are very excited about the spring schedule we have this year, as I think it is not only challenging but also allows us to play quality teams that play a variety of styles,” said Hind. “The combination of both can only help us develop further as a program. We have a very good group this spring and it’s exciting to see the development in our players’ individually but also see them come together with more confidence as a team. We value the spring season and see it as a key phase in our continued growth. While we are working a lot on developing our technical ability, as well as our athleticism, the games are key in allowing us the opportunity to improve tactically, and increase our competitive mindset.”
ODU begins its spring season on the road at East Carolina on March 18. Game time is set for 12 p.m. at the Johnson Stadium in Greenville, N.C.
Old Dominion returns home on Sunday, March 26, as old CAA rival VCU visits to play at the ODU Soccer Complex. The Lady Monarchs and Rams will face off on the pitch at 6 p.m. The two squads competed during the 2016 fall season with VCU claiming a 2-1 victory over ODU.
The Spiders of the University of Richmond travel to take on the Lady Monarchs two weeks later on April 9. First kick is set for 1 p.m.
On Saturday, April 15, Maryland will take on ODU for the first time since 2012. The two squads competed in a preseason scrimmage that resulted in a 1-0 Maryland win. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
To wrap up the Lady Monarchs spring schedule is a home match against Virginia Wesleyan. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start on Friday, April 21 at the ODU Soccer Complex.
Old Dominion will hold its annual Alumni Game on Saturday, April 22 as part of the Alumni Weekend celebrations.
