Ledwitz Earns ASUN Defensive Player of the Week Honors

MACON, Ga. – Natalie Ledwitz has been named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. The award is the first of Ledwitz’s career as the Lady Monarchs went 2-0 in the opening weekend of the 2017 season.

Ledwitz recorded two goals for two points, collected five ground balls and four draw controls while forcing a team-high six turnovers in the two opening games for the Lady Monarchs.

The Port Washington, New York native collected three ground balls and caused three turnovers in the season opener at VCU on Wednesday, Feb. 15. She also added a draw control in the 10-7 win.

Her two goals both came against Campbell on Saturday, Feb. 18, in a tight 11-10 victory. Ledwitz’s first goal of the season came in the 42nd minute of the game off of a free position shot that put the Lady Monarchs up 8-7. Her second goal of the game tied the score 10 all with just 44 seconds remaining and ultimately put ODU in the position to claim the victory.

She is the first to earn regular season ASUN laurels for the Lady Monarchs.

Old Dominion takes to the field again on Saturday, Feb. 25 at #20 Virginia Tech. The Lady Monarchs and Hokies face off in the circle starting at 1 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Indoor Practice Facility in Blacksburg, Va.
