NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (6-2) took down Penn (1-4) by a 4-3 score on Sunday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.The Lady Monarchs have now won five of its last six matches and are 5-1 at home.
It was double tandems Borislava Botusharova/Marijana Novakovic and Holly Hutchinson/Ingird Vojcinakova picking up victories for ODU to get the Lady Monarchs off to a 1-0 lead.
No. 89 nationally ranked Borislava Botusharova made quick work out of Ria Vaidya 7-5, 6-0 to give Old Dominion a 2-0 advantage.
No. 57 Holly Hutchinson made it a 3-1 lead for ODU with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Kana Daniel in No. 1 singles.
Natalya Malenko sealed the deal for Old Dominion, winning in three sets over Luba Vazhenina 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
The Lady Tennis Monarchs will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Blacksburg, for a showdown with Virginia Tech at 4:00 p.m.
