PALM DESERT, CALIF. -- The Old Dominion men's golf team wrapped up the first day of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in 13th place out of 22 schools. Antonio Cruz-Conde led the Monarchs on day one, firing a 72 (E) in the opening round to land in 11th place.
Tenth-ranked Oregon leads the 22-team field while TCU is in second place and No. 24 Colorado is in third. The Monarchs are currently tied for 13th place with UNCW and Denver.
Antonio Cruz-Conde shot a 72 (E) in round one and is tied for 11th place with the No. 1 ranked player in the nation, Wyndham Clark from Oregon, among others. Michael Bakker and Calvin Greschner each shot five-over par and are tied with another for 70th place.
As a team, the Monarchs tied for second in par three scoring average (3.00) behind only No. 10 Oregon.
Individually, David Langley recorded the third-lowest par three scoring average (2.75) in round one of all 124 golfers in the field.
