NORFOLK, Va. – Adam Moundir (Luzern, Switzerland) of the Old Dominion men’s tennis team will enter the 2017 season nationally ranked No. 24 in the Oracle/ITA National Singles Rankings after an impressive showing in the fall. Entering the 2017 season, Moundir is the top ranked player in Conference USA.
In November, Moundir was named Conference USA Player of the Month after taking down five nationally ranked opponents in October, including defeating the No. 9 and No. 15 ranked players on the same day.
Moundir’s magical run at the ITA Oracle Master’s would eventually end in the semifinals. Prior to that run, Moundir reeled off two wins at the All-Americans, both being over nationally ranked opponents.
Over a course of one month, Moundir defeated No. 9 Arthur Rinderknech of Texas A&M (3-6, 6-3, 6-4), No. 15 William Bushamuka of Kentucky (6-2, 6-4), No. 54 Maxime Tchoutakian of Baylor (6-4, 6-4), No. 79 Sebastian Heim of UC Irvine (6-1, 6-4) and No. 111 Jeffrey Schorsch of Valparaiso (6-3, 6-7, 6-2).
Moundir and the Tennis Monarchs will kick-off the 2017 season on Fri. Jan. 13 in Raleigh, N.C. as they will take on the N.C. State Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m.
