NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's soccer coaching staff recently opened their doors to local high school and club coaches. ODU assistant coach, Michelle Barr, presented to the local coaches the training methods and coaching philosophies of the Lady Monarchs’ program.
Barr’s presentation was followed by an on-field session using the current team to highlight some drills that are key to the development of the team. In all, 20 local coaches attended.
"This was a fantastic night,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “We had so many local coaches here who are doing great work developing the young players in this area. We wanted to open our doors to the soccer community and share what we are trying to do as a program and hopefully provide them with some new ideas and explain how we develop our athletes. This is the second year we have done this and the numbers have grown. We as a staff really value the opportunity to build key relationships within the area and give back a little to those who are doing such important work in encouraging young kids to enjoy soccer and developing the future talent."
