ST. LOUIS -- Old Dominion senior guard Jennie Simms has been named to the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Watch List, the organization announced on Tuesday. The award is given annually to the women's national player of the year.

Simms lands on the 28-player list as the nation's second-leading scorer at 24.8 points per game. She is the only player in the country averaging 20+ points, 8+ rebounds and 3+ assists per game and her 43-point output in the win over Marshall is the 11th-highest single-game scoring total in the NCAA this season.

The Accokeek, Maryland, native is one of just six players on the list from non-Power 5 schools, three of which hail from UConn. She is also one of two players from the state of Virgnia, along with James Madison guard Precious Hall.

Balloting for the USBWA's Women's All-America Team and the individual awards will take place in March and will be announced in conjunction with the Women's Final Four in Dallas.

The USBWA was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 1,000 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
